  Spring 2021 FAQ

Valor Soccer is now on Sports Connect! We are excited to use Sports Connect's registration platform to make registration easier for you and for us! Be sure to read through the FAQ below to make your registration process as smooth as possible.

Q1 - How do I set up my new Sports Connect account?

First things first - set up your new account! Whether you are a player or coach, setting up your account ahead of time will make registration extra easy! Sports Connect accounts are family accounts. This means everyone's profile lives under one account, including players, parents/guardians, and any addtional account holders you invite to join your account. Step 1: Navigate to Valor Soccer's Sports Connect homepage. Step 2: Select "Login" if you already have a Sports Connect account or "Register" to create your new account. Step 3: Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your account and everyone's profiles. Once everyone's profiles are set up, you'll be able to see what programs are available for players under the "My Account" tab and find volunteer opportunities under the "Volunteer" tab. Please note that new programs and volunteer opportunites will only show as "available" when that registration is open (Feb. 3rd at 10AM).

Q2 - How do I volunteer to be a Head Coach of a Rec or FirstKick team?

New to Spring 2021! Each team's head coach will receive one free player registration! You will initially pay to register your player. Then once the team is formed and practices are scheduled, we will refund you. If you are co-coaching or have an assistant coach, you can also choose to split the discount, and we will refund each person's account. --- Under the " Volunteer" tab, select " Find Volunteer Roles". Here, you will be able to register as a coach. Then choose the Program (FirstKick or Rec) and the Division (Age Group-Birth Year) that you would like to coach for. During registration, it will ask for your Team Name. You can simply write your last name for this field. Proceed through the registration and upload your safety compliance certificates if you have already completed them and they are still valid. If you have not yet completed them, you can upload them later. Once you register as a coach, there are two ways to invite your players to your team.

  1. You will be provided with a unique Team Code when you complete registration. Once your players have a Team Code from you, they will go through the registration process for the program and type the code in the Team Code field.
  2. Under the "Volunteer" tab, you will now see the option to "Visit Team Page" and "Manage Invites." Select the "Manage Invites" option. Here you will be able to type your players' email addresses into a system-generated email to invite them to join your team. You can add your own additional notes to this email, as well. From this page you can also track you roster to see which players have registered.
*Whichever method you choose, please tell your players to wait to register until they have received the Team Code or Player Invite email from you.* IMPORTANT: We ask that returning players who plan to register with a Team Code/Player Invite email register by Feb. 19. After this date, we will begin filling in rosters with players who have registered as free agents. This deadline is important because we need to be able to identify new teams and potential new coaches from the pool of players who have registered as free agents as early as possible. When sharing your Team Code and inviting players to join your team, please be aware of roster limits:
  • FirstKick Roster Sizes
    • U5 & U6 Teams = 8 players
    • U7 & U8 Teams = 8 players
  • Rec Roster Sizes
    • U9-U10 = 12 players
    • U11-U12 = 14 players
    • U13-U19 = 18 players
You can also invite additional Team Staff, such as Assistant Coaches or Team Managers, to your team using either of the two methods above.

Q4 - How do I register with my returning coach and teammates?

Your coach will register first. Once your coach is registered, they have two methods of inviting you to join their team.

  1. Your coach will share a unique Team Code with you. Once you have the Team Code, go through the player registration process for the program and type the code in the Team Code field.
  2. Your coach will send you a Player Invite email to join their team. When you receive the email click "Accept Invite" to proceed with player registration. The email will also include the Team Code just in case!
If you plan to register with a particular coach, wait for your coach to share their Team Code with you or send you a Player Invite email. This is different from previous seasons. No more mad dash to regsiter at 10AM sharp! Be sure to reach out to your coach from the previous season to find out if they plan to coach again before registration opens on Feb. 3. This way you will know if you will be registering as a free agent or waiting for a team invite. IMPORTANT: We ask that returning players who plan to register with a Team Code/Player Invite email register by Feb. 19. After this date, we will begin filling in rosters with players who have registered as free agents. This deadline is important because we need to be able to identify new teams and potential new coaches from the pool of players who have registered as free agents as early as possible.

Q5 - How do I register as a free agent?

If you're new to Valor Soccer, you will most likely be registering as a free agent. Registering as a free agent means you are not yet placed on a team. Don't panic! This does not mean you won't be placed on a team. As registrations roll in, we place free agents on partially filled rosters as well as form new teams.

Q7 - Can I use my credit from Fall 2020 when I register? (Rec only)

Yes! You should have recieved an email from registrar@valorsoccer.com containing a coupon code to use. Be sure to check your junk/spam folders in your email inbox!

Q6 - What if I don't get placed on a team?

We do our best to give as many players the ability to play as possible, but unfortunately, there may be instances where your child will be turned away. Such instances include, but are not limited to, the inability to create enough teams due to lack of players, inability to find a coach, late registrations, and unsuccessful payments. If we cannot place you on a team for FirstKick or Rec, you will be refunded in full.

Q8 - How do I apply for financial aid?

You will also apply for financial aid through Sports Connect. You must apply for financial aid before registering for FirstKick or Rec. After your application is reviewed, you will receive an email from registrar@valorsoccer.com containing a discount code that you will be able to use when you complete the program registration for FirstKick or Rec. Learn more abut applying for financial aid.

Q9 - When and where will I practice?

Our club is expanding! FirstKick and Rec programming is now available for the following Program Locations:

  • Auburn
    • North Green River Park
    • Brannan Park
  • Kent (Fairwood)
    • Petrovitsky Park
  • Kent (Kent Valley & East Hill)
    • North Green River Park
  • Maple Valley
    • Ravensdale Park
    • Summit Park
Due to Covid, there is currently limited field availablity. However, we will do our best to schedule your practice according to these locations. Ultimately, your practice day and time will be determined by the coach you are placed with.

Q3 - How do I volunteer as an Assistant Coach or Team Mananger?

Just as Head Coaches will invite players to their team with a Team Code or via the "Manage Invites" interface, they will also invite Assistant Coaches and Team Managers to join their team. Wait for the Head Coach to share their Team Code with you or invite you to their team as a member of the Team Staff.

Q10 - Can I play up?

Upon parent request, FirstKick and Rec players may play up one age group. Players who wish to play up two or more age groups must be evaluated by a Program Coordinator for permission to play up. When you register, SportsConnect will require you to register for your player for their correct Program and Division (Age Group-Birth Year). Proceed with registration for your player's correct Program and Division. If you have a Team Code to join a team that is older, DO NOT use your Team Code. It will not work. After you register, please email your program right away to notify them that you would like to be placed on an older team (and what team that is if you had a Team Code). If your player is playing up to an older division that incurs a price change, you will be charged for the price difference.
