Recreational

Program Overview

The Recreational Path offers safe and affordable soccer fun. This program starts at the Under 9 age group (AGE GROUP CHART) and offers teams through the Under 19 age group. The U9 to U19 age group includes birth years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 20011.

The Recreational Path provides an excellent opportunity for players who want to enjoy the beautiful game with their friends without the time investment, effort, and commitment required by the Competitive Path programs - Premier and Select.

Leagues are offered each Fall and Spring. Players can register to be placed on a team or with a group of friends. There are no tryouts for Recreational soccer, and until rosters are full, registration takes place on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is officially closed for the Fall 2019 season of FirstKick.
We hope to see you for Spring 2020!

Player and Team Development

Our professional Valor Coaching Staff creates the developmental curriculum that all our Recreational teams work from.

U9 to U12 teams have weekly training sessions at their regional training sites.

  • These sessions are led by professional Valor Soccer coaches that will take the teams through three progressions of our weekly Valor training curriculum.
  • There are 8 professional sessions, not including optional sessions and clinics. These sessions start with the beginning of league play.
  • Volunteer coaches lead weekly practices with their teams. Practices typically start mid-August for the Fall season and early to mid-March for the Spring season.
  • Session plans are based on a schedule and curriculum that Valor Rec Director provides.
  • Valor Soccer Rec Director will send lesson plans to all coaches, professional and volunteer, each week.

U13 and up teams will be provided lesson plans each week from our Program Director. The Program Director will be rotating between teams and join them during their training sessions.

Games & Leagues

  • U9 teams will play in a inter-association league against our own Valor Soccer regional teams (Kent and Maple Valley), Renton, Federal Way, and Enumclaw.
  • U10 and up teams will participate in the South Sound United League (SSUL) which plays against teams in south King County and Pierce County.
  • Maple Valley home games will be held at Summit Trails Middle School
  • Kent home games will be held at Pea Patch Fields

Practice Locations

Teams will be provided several locations to use for practice during the week. Specific practice times and locations are determined by each coach. See some of the available practice locations below:

  • Nike Recreational Path Jersey: $25 (plus shipping)The Nike Recreational Jersey can be purchased at the Valor Soccer Team Store hosted by SOCCER.COM.
  • Players  will be able to wear the same jersey through the two-year uniform cycle.
  • Valor Soccer will send ordering instructions for jersey purchase after teams have been formed (early August for Fall season and early March for Spring season).
  • Valor Soccer will host uniform sizing events, so parents can check their child’s size before ordering.
  • No custom names or numbering will be available for Nike Recreational Path jerseys.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED GEAR

Parents will need to ensure their child has soccer cleats, shin guards, and a soccer ball.  Optional matching shorts, socks, and additional training gear will be available through the Valor Soccer Team Store.
